REDESIGN
Redesign is using what you already own and arranging it differently in a space, in the most fluid and beautiful way possible to suit the practical needs of living.
A redesign session begins with an assessment of what the space is used for and by whom, and their particular needs, and then what amongst your possessions might work well and/or better in the redesigned space and why. Some of that decision making is done during the redesign process, though the main issues of spacing, flow and use are decided upon relatively early. This is about supporting your needs, so a real dialogue about those needs is essential to getting it right.
Then comes the actual moving things around. A single room from consult through finishes requires at least three hours' work. I can supply assistance to do the bigger lifting, or to save on the budget, you and a friend or family member can help move things.
For both time and ease of getting it all done, please have cleaned recently and have some cleaning materials available for use. Starting with cleanliness and thoughtful caring of each possession and space is an integral part of the process. My approach is not quite Zen, but much like it, working from the ground up.
NESTING and MOVING
A home functions much like a living organism - it needs attention to the basics first. It doesn't matter if its the size of a closet or a grand estate, moving into a new space is hectic and stressful and always time consuming. Set up efficiently and appealingly from the start, your new home can support you and sustain itself naturally. And that can help make you less stressed, therefore happier.
If you are moving in somewhere new, I can be involved in that "nesting" process, both in offering simple advice and/or through complete hands on unpacking and placement of things in cooperation with you.
Or, if you are moving out, you might need help downsizing and staging your home. This means organizing, consolidating and preparing what you are taking with you and sorting out what isn't needed, then making the house look as appealing as possible for potential buyers.
Both Nesting and Moving rates are negotiable and can be determined through discussions regarding size of tasks and depth of involvement to help make your living space a home.
STYLING
Properly finishing a space means finding pieces to go in it. Maybe you are happy with your current space or I have already redesigned your space and you want me to find other interesting bits for you.
Though the internet provides immediate access to so much new stuff, I tend to be eco-conscious and work more with existing items (antiques being the ultimate recycling) often hunting for those bits and pieces in person. But whatever might be needed, I put my sense of style, color and balance to work to help make your home look wonderful.
